One
part asphalt and cones, one part gas and brakes, one part car and driver, add
stop watches and speed, and you've got yourself an autocross.
Autocross participants maneuver through a
professionally designed SCCA course as fast possible, being careful not to knock
over any cones. Jump on the accelerator as you head onto the winding course,
hard on the brakes to make the first of many twists and turns. Accelerating,
braking, timing and positioning are all important as you speed through the
winding course.
Did you beat the fastest time? Make sure to
check those cones,
each one
knocked over adds five seconds to your time.
The autocross can take place at Michigan
International Speedway or may be set
up at most any venue, nation wide, providing there is a secure parking lot or
other paved area.
